The Mary Manning Walsh Nursing Home Co Inc. is one of the top nursing facilities in terms of hospitalizations per 1000 days. I had fractured my pelvis and was in the facility for a month. The incredible doctors and nurses and staff brought me back to being able to walk and were simply superb. I will be forever grateful to this great rehab center.

Activities for residents include movie nights, painting classes and talent shows. Being a Catholic facility, there is a beautiful chapel for residents and staff that is sometimes frequented by members of New York's senior clergymen. I was a patient at Mary Manning Walsh in February-March. The staff was more than courteous and attentive.

I contacted the Director of Mary Manning Welsh to discuss my husbands care during his time there and a social worker who lacked experience covering his case, but no one ever got back to me. I am not seeing, having had to deal with nursing home the last year of my husbands life, how terribly managed they are. I would suggest Riverside Rehab and Long Term care as they seem to be better experienced, equipped to take care of the elderly. It also makes me sad to see the old and the lack of 5 start treatment they deserve, go on undeserved. Please don’t send your loved ones here. Her care has been sub-par and inexcusable.

At one time I had to make a formal complaint because no one would take my mother to the bathroom because the person assigned to said she was officially on her lunch break so it was to bad. The often put the patients along the wall facing the nursing station for hours with nothing to do. At least I never found any bruises or other signs of physical abuse like the other two places she was in previously.

This facility is a great model for the way you should care for the elderly and infirm. My mother was in the sub-acute ward and the medical care was horrendous and grounds for malpractice. Her attending physician, Dr. Mohan, told me he accidentally put in her chart that she had kidney disease, which she did not and which affected her medication. He was too embarrassed to tell the nurses and drs of his mistake and asked me to do it.

They were supposed to provide physical therapy to my relative and help them after surgery to be ready to care for themselves at home. After two days of providing 20 minutes of therapy a day, and not having prescribed meds available, they declared she was ready to be discharged in two business days. I have never been engaged with a place that was so incompetent and unable to provide the basic functions it professes to offer.
